Pop Art (German)

In den 1960er Jahren erreichte die Pop Art ihren Höhepunkt. Sie begann als Revolte gegen die etablierten Ansätze von Kunst und Kultur und entwickelte sich zu einer umfassenden Untersuchung der modernen Gesellschaft, des Konsumismus, der Rolle des Künstlers und dessen, was als Kunstwerk galt. Verkörpert durch Warhols Campbell-Suppen-Dosen, griff die Pop Art auf Massenmarktquellen und Produkte sowie auf das Banale und Kitschige zurück.

Peaking in the 1960s, Pop Art began as a revolt against mainstream approaches to art and culture and evolved into a wholesale interrogation of modern society, consumerism, the role of the artist, and of what constituted an artwork. Epitomized by Warhol’s Campbell’s soup cans, Pop Art drew on mass-market sources and products as well as the banal and kitsch.
